This is a listing of activities, services and people that we have contacted before or researched into. It may either serve to jog our memories for future events or save us some leg-work next time we plan to do them.

Speech and Drama

Glenn Sutherland, a private Speech and Drama teacher in Hastings, could run a group session for us. 6 in a class for $85 per term - I hour session. She also does Trinity School and Speech NZ exams. 7 years upwards. Covering poetry, prose, mime, impromptu, role playing etc. Increases reading and writing ability and confidence. She doesn't advertise.

Hastings District Council Expo

Informative, interactive displays on many aspects of what the council does for us and what we can do for the environment.

NZ Ballet

Discounts for educational performances as they tour through Napier

ChuckleArt Concepts Ltd (was Eve's Ceramics)

Under new management this is now in Holden St, Onekawa. It has a lunchbar, gallery and studio for classes. Ph 843 7410.

Capital E

A Wellington-based childrens theatre company that tours nationally each year.

Entry $5, teachers no charge.

Pottery

Taradale Pottery (opposite the end of Links Road) can run a casual session for children and adults alike.

There were 2 different systems to cover the charges: either we pay per bag of clay ($30 for 1 bag(8-10 people), $50 for two) and then the fees for the paint (?) and 2 oven fires and glazing ($44 per group) OR a flat fee of $100 all inclusive. This is likely to be more second time around.

 

Scholars @ EIT

A variety of lunch, dinner, and morning tea sittings at the training restaurant at EIT.

You can be put on their mailing list to find out what is coming up half-yearly.

Prices are very reasonable.

Worms, Rubbish and Recycling

Hastings District Council Environmental Officer, Dominic Salmon presented a talk and walk through the Henderson Road Recycling Depot.

Approx 1hour - 1.5 hours)

1. What is rubbish and why does it cost to throw things away
2. Why recycle and how - interactive with the kids (and adults) recycling
3. Other ways to reduce your rubbish - worm farm, compost etc

20 - 25 people maximum. Sturdy footwear essential

Climbing Wall or Sport Activity

Atomic Centre, St Aubyns Street, Hastings

St Johns

Pre-entry (Penguins) or entry level (Cadets- 8 years and up). Fees of $5 per term. Activities covering not only first aid but animal care, environment, community service etc with optional competition work. Penguins meet from 4 -5 pm on a Thursday and Cadets from 7 - 8.30pm.

Beauty and Body Therapy Clinic @ EIT

Tthe second year students run a clinic for certain services on a Tuesday morning 9 -12 and a Thursday evening 4-7pm. Of course the rates are discounted!

Tinting $5, Facials $15, Pedicure $10, Manicure $10, Waxing $5-$20, Make-up Lessons $5

Faraday Centre

November 10th Post Visit Activity

"Come and see our great selection of animals ranging from pigs, sheep & calves to ostriches, alpacas, tutles, peacocks and many more. Bring a picnic, feed the ducks, have a pony ride, etc."
